On Monday the 14th November I travelled to Theydon Bois Primary School to take part in filming the ITV Christmas Special Carol Service which will be live on the evening of 24th December. Pigeon racing will be featured as the school loft were given two pigeons by the late Royal Highness Her Majesty the Queen. The ITV program will celebrate many of the late Queen’s hobbies with pigeon racing being selected due to the Royal Lofts donation to the children at the primary school.
Filming is scheduled over two locations, one at the school and their loft with the second being at St Elisabeth’s Church, Stockport in a few weeks’ time. The film crew were taken back by the impressive set up they have at Theydon Bois School and the pigeons have helped with their focus on the overall development of the children with them gaining valuable insight into the outdoor environment as well as the curriculum. Head teacher Mr Rall said “We want to develop our pupils understanding of wildlife and experiencing the outdoors is just as important as sitting examinations. All our children at the school are encouraged to interact with their natural surroundings and the pigeons have added even more value we can offer to everyone involved here at Theydon Boys” Pigeons have been a feature at Theydon Bois..............
